Whilst slightly dated , most of his short stories and novels are of such a brisk pace , and all of his observations are succinctly put , that this can be forgiven , and as such his works need to be regarded purely as good entertainment ratehr than a classic work of literature. Study in Scarlet is just this. It sets the scene for the unique relationship that exsisits between Dr Watson and Holmes and as a stand alone novel, it describes ( with a little Historical Inaccurracy ) about the history of the Danenites - a Mormon secret society that operated in utah in the mid 19th Century. Entertaining. |
